چکیده

The Einstein-Brillouin-Keller EBK quantization equation is used to determine the energy levels of a two-body system with an arbitrary central potential that allows for bound states. The treatment is based on the conservation laws and avoids both the Newtonian and Schrödinger differential equations. Because analytic solutions for the energy levels do not exist in general, the EBK condition is applied using the Newton-Raphson method and the radial probability density is computed. Potentials appropriate for a diatomic molecule are considered and the effect of the angular momentum on the radial distribution, the nature of the classical orbits, and the possibility of closed orbits is studied. © 2006 American Association of Physics Teachers. The Quadratic Zeeman Effect in Hydrogen: an Example of Semi-classical Quantization of a Strongly Non-separable but Almost Integrable System

Semi-classical quantization of multidimensional systems is discussed both in terms of the Einstein-Brillouin-Keller quantization on invariant tori, and in terms of infinite families of periodic orbits. The notions of separability, integrability, and non-integrability of classical systems are introduced. An approximate integrability is used to quantize the quadratic Zeeman problem, via analytic ...

Torus quantization for spinning particles.

We derive semiclassical quantization conditions for particles with spin. These generalize the Einstein-Brillouin-Keller quantization in such a way that, in addition to the Maslov correction, there appears another term which is a remnant of a non-Abelian geometric or Berry phase. This correction is interpreted in terms of a rotation angle for a classical spin vector.

1 Spectra of regular quantum graphs

We consider a class of simple quasi one-dimensional classically non-integrable systems which capture the essence of the periodic orbit structure of general hy-perbolic nonintegrable dynamical systems. Their behavior is simple enough to allow a detailed investigation of both classical and quantum regimes. Despite their classical chaoticity, these systems exhibit a " nonintegrable analog " of the...

S’darboux Coordinates and Wkb Approximations in Deformation Quantization

We introduce a method for calculating the joint spectra of functions which comprise a quantum integrable system under a deformation quantization star product. The main result involves a construction by formal power series in ~ of s’Darboux coordinates, a concept we introduce for the star product analogue of Darboux normal coordinates. We will find that underlying the quantum integrable system i...

The transfer operator due to Bogomolny provides a convenient method for obtaining a semiclassical approximation to the energy eigenvalues of a quantum system, no matter what the nature of the analogous classical system. In this paper, the method is applied to integrable systems which are rotationally invariant , in two and three dimensions. In two dimensions, the transfer operator is expanded i...
